Costa
Del Sol based songwriter and entertainer Chris Turner meets up with Commonwealth
Games Gold Medal winner Adam Whitehead in Chris' local ...'Brannigan's Bar'
in Torremolinos. Chris was commissioned to write the official Song of Welcome
for last year's C.Games held in Manchester. The song, 'Do It the Mancunian
Way' was performed for each of the 72 participating teams, and also at the
Prestigous Opening Ceremony. Pictured with Chris is Adam Whitehaed, triple
medal winner for England (Swimming). Adam is proud to say that he won the
100m gold, 200m siver (breaststroke), and siver again in the medley relay.
Adam, and members of his Swimming Club in Coventry chose the municipal pool
in Torremolinos to train and prepare for the forthcoming world championships.
Adam and his friends decided to give Brannigan's bar a visit on the only
free night from their busy training schedule , as it is mentioned in the
credits on the cover to Chris's CD. He couldn't believe it when he spotted
Chris playing pool, who he recognised from the England team's welcome ceremony.
The two friends played pool for the rest of the evening, which, Adam said,
was a welcome change from the swimming pool !
